Should be fine. Most hosts make it pretty easy to move up plans within their own system. I upgraded my client's shared plan to a VPS with them a while back and it was pretty smooth, didn't have any downtime to speak of.

I think they say you can upgrade plans, so you probably won't have issues. Just ask their support beforehand if you're worried about the process, but it's a common thing to do.

Dedicated servers can take a bit longer than just getting a shared account. I'd expect at least 24-48 hours for them to set it all up and get you access. They usually need to physically configure it.

It's not instant, that's for sure. I ordered one from a different host a while back and it took about a business day and a half. Host Whimsy probably has similar times, depends on how busy their datacenter is.

Nah, usually those big discounts are for the longer terms, like a year or more. The monthly price for the introductory period is usually still good, but not *that* good, afaik.

Pretty sure it's for the first billing cycle, so if you pick monthly it's 70% off for that one month, then it goes to regular price. It's almost always better to lock in for a year if you know you'll stick around.
